RIDE BIKES, DRINK BEER, HELP KIDS

Saturday, October 12

Short Route (7.8 miles): Flyway to Prairie Street Live, 12:30-5:00

Long Route (13 miles): Black Apple Hard Cider to Prairie Street Live 11:30-5:00

Join us on Saturday, October 12, 2024 for the 7th Annual Miracle Travel Works Poker Ride! This is a fundraising event that is fun for anyone (adults and children are welcome!) who likes to bike on the beautiful bike trails in Fayetteville, AR, and even more fun for those who also like the excellent craft breweries, bars, and restaurants along the way. This year there are two options: (1) A short route that is a relatively easy 7.8 mile ride between stops which begins with rider check-in at Flyway Brewing Company and ends at Prairie Street Live, and (2) a longer route of 13.0 miles that begins with rider check-in at the Black Apple Taproom in Springdale, and connects to the shorter route at Flyway Brewing Company. (The full list of stops is below.) Riders can sign up for either option, but riders who do the longer route will each receive a bonus card to make their best poker hand!

Riders can register for $50 using this link. (Note that registration goes up to $65 on October 10, so register now!) Registration will allow you to draw a playing card at each stop along the ride, with the best poker hand at the final ride winning the grand prize which is shown below. (Please note that no beer purchase is required at any stop.) At the final stop, registered riders will also receive free pizza!

The money raised from this fundraiser will go to help families with seriously ill or injured children who need to travel to receive urgent medical care. (Click here or on the images at top to hear from a family we've helped!) Come have a fun Saturday enjoying the trails, great company, and great bars and breweries while helping families during such difficult times.

Recruit friends to increse your odds of winning!

Get a group of friends to come along! When registering, each person can add a 'Team name' of your choosing. Every member of the team with the most members on the day of the ride receives a BONUS CARD for their poker hand!

On the day of the ride, riders can use this page to see current standings as well as rules, information about prizes, etc.

Rules and Regulations

  • Only registered riders can collect cards at each stop. Riders will receive wristbands at check-in and will present them as proof of registration at each stop.
  • The dealer at each stop will allow each registered rider to draw a card from the dealer's pre-marked deck. If the rider already has the same card (same suit and value) in his or her hand, the card is replaced and the rider re-draws until obtaining a new card. At that point, if the rider wishes to draw a different card, he or she can pay an additional fee based on location (as listed next) and will be able to return the new card drawn at that stop, and can then draw a new card. This is allowed a maximum of one time per stop, and the rider must keep the second card (i.e. is not allowed to return to the first). Redraw prices: Flyway: $10, Fossil Cove: $20, Nomads: $30, Columbus House: $40, Prairie Street Live: $50. These purchases can be made with cash or check, or by following this link and selecting the appropriate option: https://igfn.us/form/nquXgA or texting 'mtwfun2024' to 41444.
  • Each rider is only allowed to use the cards personally drawn by that rider at each stop - no exchanging of cards between riders is allowed.
  • It is not necessary for all cards in a rider’s hand to be of the same color (since they will be coming from different decks, sometimes of different colors).
  • Once a rider has his or her final card at a stop, the dealer will mark it with the rider's initials. The dealer will also enter the value of the card into the results spreadsheet. Riders should keep their cards until the end in order to verify the correct recording of their hands.
  • At the final stop (Prairie Street Lives), each rider will be allowed to purchase a single additional card for $60. This card can be added to his or her hand, and the rider then uses the 5 cards which provide the most highly ranking poker hand. This purchase can be made with cash or check, or by following this link and selecting the appropriate option: https://igfn.us/form/nquXgA or texting 'mtwfun2024' to 41444.
  • If a registered rider either (1) has not collected cards from all of the stops, and/or (2) would like to receive a completely new hand of 5 cards, the rider can pay $100, turn in all cards he or she currently possesses, and be dealt a new hand of 5 cards. This can be done a maximum of once per rider. If a rider chooses to do this, he or she still has the option of buying an additional 6th card for $60 to add to this new hand. These purchases can be made with cash or check, or by following this link and selecting the appropriate option: https://igfn.us/form/nquXgA or texting 'mtwfun2024' to 41444.
  • Hands will be ranked following standard poker ranking of hands: https://www.cardplayer.com/rules-of-poker/hand-rankings, with no ranking of suits. In the event that multiple riders possess hands with the highest poker value among all other riders, those riders will each be dealt a new hand by an official dealer. The rider whose new hand ranks the highest among the newly dealt hands is the winner. At this point, there will be no option to purchase additional or new cards. If multiple riders possess hands with the highest poker value among those newly dealt hands, the process is repeated for just those riders until there is a winner.
  • Riders are responsible for verifying the recorded values of their cards before the announcement of the winner (updates will appear periodically at https://miracletravelworks.org/pokerride), and unless prior arrangements have been made with the organizers, must be present during the announcement to win. If a rider has the winning hand but has not made prior arrangements with the organizers and is not present during the announcement, the rider with the next highest hand will become the winner.
